I'll be the first to admit it, I am the fussiest party outfit shopper. The hours I've spent trawling the internet looking for outfits for the party season are too many to think about. So I've put together a collection of my favourite clothes, shoes, and accessories that I think would be perfect for Christmas parties.
With less than two weeks left until Christmas I am nowhere near done with gift shopping. So today, I've raided the internet in search of perfect last minute gifts and put together this gift guide to help anyone else that's suffering from a last minute Christmas gift mind blank!
Firstly, for the girls..
Q&A A Day - £10.49 This is such a lovely idea for someone who loves the thought of keeping a journal, but doesn't have the commitment or time to write a long passage every day. Each page has a quick question ranging from 'What is your favourite accessory?' to 'What is your mission?'. The best part is that the journal lasts five years, so you can look back on how your answers have changed.
Sensational Deluxe Gel Starter Kit - £55 I had this last year for Christmas and have absolutely loved using it all year. It's perfect for someone like me who, when using regular polish, chips her nails within five minutes of painting them. I found when I've used this my polish has lasted almost two weeks - and considering how much you pay for one gel manicure in a salon this set is a bargain!
Bunny Rabbit Cotton Wool Holder - £10 I spotted this in Boots whilst Christmas shopping a few weeks back. It's would look adorable on a dressing table and makes something as boring as cotton wool cute!
Meow Christmas Phone Case - £8 Not much needs to be said about this one, it's just so cute, and who can resist a novelty phone case?
Ciate Haute House - £22 This is a lovely little gift set. The packaging is so well thought out and pretty which just makes it so much nicer. The colours are all perfect for the party season and I for one would love to unwrap this!
Polka Dot PJs - £19.99 Pyjamas make the perfect Christmas present, I don't know anyone who doesn't look forward to getting pretty new pjs at Christmas time, and this set is super pretty.
Flamingo Candle - £11 I've only recently discovered Flamingo Candles - and I'm already obsessed. The scents are amazing and the gorgeous packaging makes them a perfect Christmas present. My personal favourite is the Pomegranate and White Fig scent but if you wanted more of a festive choice then Cranberry, Orange & Cinnamon Explosion sounds amazing.
Bleach London Spin the Bleach Bottle - £12 This is such a cool idea, if you know someone who loves experimenting with hair colours this would be the perfect gift.
And, for the boys... Grey Knitted Scarf - £20 I think a scarf always makes a great Christmas gift - you know it's something that's definitely going to get a lot of wear living in England. Magnetic Gadget Holder - £6.99 This is such a clever little idea for someone who struggles to find a phone holder that sits in the right place on the dashboard (trust me, this has been an ongoing complaint from my boyfriend). You stick a magnetic strip on the back of your phone, satnav, or anything else you want on your dashboard, and then stick the 'hub' disc on any surface that takes your fancy.
Wash Bag - £20 For someone who travels or stays away regularly a new wash bag is a really useful gift. This ASOS one is the perfect size for the essentials.
Apple TV - £79 Allowing you to access iTunes as well as the likes of Netflix and YouTube from your TV, this is a popular Christmas gift this year. Half of the reason I want to buy this is because I know I'll get just as much use out of it as him!
Hudson Tan Boots - £110 For the shoe lover these boots would be a great gift. Smart, but not too smart for day time wear, I know a lot of people that would get tons of wear from these.
Wallet - £25 A wallet is a fail-safe gift for men. Something that everyone uses, a new one is always going to be appreciated.
Daniel Wellington Watch - £179 I am literally in love with this watch. It's such a classic style and I know a lot of people who would be seriously pleased to receive this.
Liz Earle for Men Cleanse & Polish - £14.99 Anyone else notice their cleanser being used at double the rate whenever their boyfriend is around? I know I do, so I'm using Christmas as the perfect opportunity to get him his own so I don't have to share anymore!
That rounds up my choice of last minute Christmas gifts, I hope this has made Christmas shopping just that tiny bit easier for some of you!
As much as I'm determined to hold on to summer for as long as possible, I can't help but get excited for the colder, autumn weather. I'm definitely a summer person, but autumn has got to be a close second, I love all the excitement surrounding Halloween, Bonfire Night and the run up to Christmas! These are a few bits I've had my eye on for the coming months!
I've spent the past few days searching for the perfect holiday for the end of next month, and with every resort I look at the excitement builds! So, I've put that eagerness to good use and put together this collage of 'essentials' (I use the term lightly!) I'm going to be needing to take away with me!
1) I've been looking for some plain white sandals for a while, and these are exactly what I've wanted. I love the simplicity of this pair, making them suitable for day or night, dressy or casual. I also love that there's no silly in-between-the-toe bit, anyone else hate the feeling of those?!
2) I think this Topshop swimsuit is so cute. I probably haven't worn a swimsuit for a good ten years! But the shape and colour of this one is too adorable to pass up on.
3) I think this would be so ideal for throwing on over a bikini before heading to the beach. I am absolutely loving white lately, it's so crisp and fresh!
4) I love these sunglasses. The shape is lovely and will make a welcome change from the aviators I've had glued to my head for the past 2 summers! I really struggle with sunglasses being too big thanks to my pea head, so hopefully when I try these on next shopping trip they'll fit nicely!
5) I know, jumping on the bandwagon with every blogger in the world who has a Triangl bikini! I just think the colours are so bright and lovely, and the fit looks absolutely perfect!
6+7) A good, bright nail polish is a must-have for a beach holiday! Barry M Sugar Apple hasn't left my nails for the past few weeks, and Models Own Beach Bag is the perfect holiday shade.
8) Another holiday essential, I need a huge beach bag to stuff full of suncream, sunglasses, towels and a lot of books! I love this one, it's the perfect size to fit everything in.
Where are you off to on holiday this year? What are your essentials? :)
1 - I'm (evidently) loving white shoes lately. I'm not usually a fan of huge chunky wedges but this pair from New Look are amazing. I think they'd make any outfit and the platform heel means they won't cripple you which is always a bonus!
2 - New Look have some great shoes in recently. I love the powder blue colour and contrasting black heel of this pair.
3 - This pair of Topshop heels would be perfect for both day and night time. The heel makes them slightly more dressy whilst the cleated sole adds a more casual aspect.
4 - I've got to say, I haven't bought in to the 'ugly shoe' trend at all. However, these New Look sandals may just have convinced me. They're the right amount of pretty, girly and ugly to win me over!
5 - I love the baby pink snakeskin effect on the front of this pair. I think these shoes are so useful for day-to-day wear and look great as well!
6 - These flats from Matalan are the perfect mix between a casual and classy shoe. The lack of heel makes them perfect for a day walking around the shoes, but the point and pattern make them smart enough for night time wear!
I'm not sure why, but every year around Spring time I get a huge urge to freshen up my bedroom. It's that time of the year again and lately I've been lusting after a LOT of home accessories.
1) Looking at this wishlist, I think it's clear that I'm loving glass accessories at the moment. I spotted the Kilner jar glasses on eBay. I just think they are so cute, and would be perfect for sipping a cocktail from on a warm day!
2) I've loved this bedding from Asda since seeing it on Becky's blog. I think the print is so cute and quirky, and the muted colours match my bedroom perfectly. I'm really impressed with Asda's bedding offering lately, and I'd definitely recommend having a look if you're searching for a cute duvet set!
3 & 4) I think this jar from Matalan would be perfect for storing cotton wool - turning something that is generally quite boring into a pretty accessory on your dressing table! I love the glass bottle from Sainsbury's too, somewhere I'd never thought to look for home decor in the past, but whilst shopping recently I've noticed some really nice accessories!
5) I know that if I bought these it would definitely result in me buying endless amounts of Party Rings, I just wouldn't have the will power to resist! The cushions are so cute though, and easily add a colourful, fun aspect to a room! You can buy them from Not On The High Street.
6) I LOVE this scent, I think it may actually be my favourite Yankee Candle. I'm awful at describing scents but the website describes it as 'bright citrus, sweet florals and spicy vanilla". It's available here.
7) I actually think this mug from H&M is kind of creepy. But it's a mug, with a cat on. How could I not want it?!
What home accessories have you been loving lately?
Gingham is everywhere just lately, and it's a trend I love! I think it's so fresh and spring like, and can be worn for almost any occasion. I'm especially loving the emergence of more pastel coloured ginghams, and can't wait to get my hands on some. I've collected a few images of bloggers wearing the gingham trend perfectly and created a collage of gingham pieces I love, similarly to previous 'How Bloggers Wear' posts here and here.
1 - I've never really taken much notice of Dorothy Perkins in the past, but I've visited a few times lately and have loved everything! I love the colour of this shirt, and the material feels lovely. This would be really versatile and perfect for Spring.
2 - I love these patterned trousers from H&M. I think they'd look nice casually with a t-shirt or more dressed up with a blouse or cami, and for £12.99 you can't go wrong!
3 - I'm loving lime/neon green lately. I think having a bag or accessories in this colour is a really easy way to brighten up an outfit, and this one from H&M is gorgeous.
4 & 5 - Barry M Gelly nail polishes are my favourite drugstore nail polishes. I've found they dry really quickly and don't chip too easily which is perfect for me. These new colours are so nice for Spring, I'll definitely be picking them up in the next few weeks!
6 - I saw these shoes in New Look last week and fell in love. The colour seems brighter in person, they would be absolutely perfect for Spring and Summer.
7 - Matalan have really surprised me lately, and have some lovely things in. This skirt caught my eye, I think I'd get a lot of wear out of it now the weathers a little bit warmer (hopefully I haven't just jinxed it!)
What have you had your eye on in the shops lately? :)
A few weeks ago I posted this 'How To Wear Pink - Wishlist' featuring some bloggers wearing outfits that had inspired me to create the wishlist. I really enjoyed writing it, so I started collecting images of bloggers wearing another trend I love - white blazers.
I think white blazers can look so classy and fresh. They're perfect for dressing up jeans and a t-shirt and look amazing with neon colours! I've made a collage of things I'd wear with a white blazer, inspired by the lovely outfits above!
With the horrible weather we've been having, I've found myself wanting to wear summer-y coloured clothes more and more as an attempt to cheer myself up. I've been loving pink lately, and after seeing it incorporated in to all these lovely outfits, I love it even more!
I've put together a little wish-list of all the lovely pink clothes and accessories that are available on the High St at the moment. I definitely think this is a trend worth investing in, just look at how pretty it is! It will without a doubt stick around for a while yet.
I know Valentine's Day is a controversial holiday, and a lot of people don't like it, but I personally love it! I can't say I ever have or ever will go all out lovey dovey let's skip and hold hands, but I quite like the thought of just reminding someone you're thinking of them with a little gift.
I put together this gift guide, it's probably (definitely) more suitable for girls, the kind of thing you could give to a sister or friend.
1 & 3 - Press on nails. I've noticed a lot of cute press on nail designs lately, these are two that stood out to me. The first set is from Ted Baker, and has a really lovely floral design. The second set, from Elegant Touch, are a lot simpler, but just as lovely!
2 - Homemade cakes/cookies/anything. I think baking or cooking something is a really nice Valentine's gift idea. The thought and effort that goes into making something homemade says a lot, and is a really nice way to show you care.
4 & 5 - Lush Love Locket and Close To You. I always love Lush's Valentine's offerings, and was sad to see they didn't bring back Frog Prince this year! These two kind of make up for it though, Close To You smells lovely and Love Locket fills the bath with heart confetti, what's not to like?
6 - These mugs are so sweet, they say "I love your face (and the rest of you too)". Some might say these are a bit sickly sweet but I find them quite funny, plus you can never have enough mugs!
7 - I love candles, and find an excuse to use them as a gift for every holiday! Pink Sands is a sweet, fresh scent which would be appropriate right through to Spring! I haven't smelt Sweetest Valentine but it's described as "Sparkling Cinnamon & Vanilla Cupcake" which sounds amazing.
8 - This is my type of card, I'm a sucker for a card with a pun. Unfortunately I can't find available to buy in the UK! I couldn't leave it out though, it's so cute! Let me know if you know where I can get one!
1+2 - I spotted these coats whilst shopping last night. They look really nice quality in person and the perfect coat for that awkward in-between season stage that's coming up!
3 - I've wanted these rollers for ages, I've had great experiences with Enrapture as a brand (I especially love their totum styler) and these are half price at Debenhams at the moment, so I've got an excuse to try them out!
4 - This bracelet is so dainty and cute. Following on from my wrist candy post I've been craving more bracelets to go with my watch, I love this one.
5 - I first spotted these shoes on Milk Bubble Tea's wishlist and have been thinking about them since! Again, I just think they're perfect for in-between seasons. They'd look cute with tights for the colder weather we're getting at the moment, and would be a great summer shoe as well.
6 - The photo on River Island's website doesn't do this tiny satchel justice. I found it last night and fell in love straight away!
7 - I love the perfume bottle, so it was inevitable I'd love the Marc Jacobs Daisy earrings too. So cute!
I love watches! And an array of pretty bracelets and bangles stacked together look perfect. I came across these photos on Pinterest a few days ago and love how the combinations look.
I put together a little 'lookbook' of bracelets, bangles and watches I've been lusting after.
I love Halloween! I always have, maybe it's something to do with my love for Autumn. The darker nights and the colder weather, the start of the party season and the excitement of being able to dress up all spooky. I'm about 5 years old at heart.
But, asides from the fancy dress, you can always sport a more toned down Halloween look. The Halloween ranges in stores have been really drawing me in lately, and I think you could sport some of this as day time wear (and as fancy dress!)
I know, I know, there's only a very short period of time you can actually wear any of this stuff. Pretty much just the month of October, actually. But look how cute it all is! I love the bat print Topshop skirt, and the Halloween themed nail wraps. Topshop never fails to please me with it's Halloween themed pieces, remember THAT JW Anderson for Topshop bat jumper?
I don't know, maybe it's just me who loves spooky-themed everything! After all, we all need to channel our inner excitable 5 year old every now and then!
One last thing! I've been loving this Yankee Candle Candy Corn Halloween candle. It smells lovely, really fitting with the season, and makes the room all cosy and warm. Asides from all of that, how could you resist the themed jar?
One of my favourite trends for Autumn this year is tartan. This tartan skirt from New Look portrays the trend in a perfectly wearable way. I've put together three different ways I'd wear this skirt throughout the Autumn and into the Winter, for a few different occasions.
Worn with a cosy pair of tights, this first look would be great for the colder autumn mornings. I love the detail on the jumper, it makes a nice difference from a regular knitted jumper and adds a more rough, grungy look to an otherwise plain jumper. The studded shoes and bag with silver hardware emphasise the grungy look even more.
Another grungy sort of look. The tartan and grungy trends go hand in hand and work so well together. The gold accessories add a luxe feel, as do the different textures in this look. I think this look is quite versatile, it would be great with tights and the flat boots in the day, add some heels and lose the tights and its an evening look!
The glitzy gold collar on the top in this look gives a more glamourous feel. I love the chunky boots, the contrast between the delicate girly top and big boots works well. I think this looks quite festive, and would look great at christmas meals when the time comes.
