I'll be the first to admit it, I am the fussiest party outfit shopper. The hours I've spent trawling the internet looking for outfits for the party season are too many to think about. So I've put together a collection of my favourite clothes, shoes, and accessories that I think would be perfect for Christmas parties.
As much as I'm determined to hold on to summer for as long as possible, I can't help but get excited for the colder, autumn weather. I'm definitely a summer person, but autumn has got to be a close second, I love all the excitement surrounding Halloween, Bonfire Night and the run up to Christmas! These are a few bits I've had my eye on for the coming months!
I've spent the past few days searching for the perfect holiday for the end of next month, and with every resort I look at the excitement builds! So, I've put that eagerness to good use and put together this collage of 'essentials' (I use the term lightly!) I'm going to be needing to take away with me!
1) I've been looking for some plain white sandals for a while, and these are exactly what I've wanted. I love the simplicity of this pair, making them suitable for day or night, dressy or casual. I also love that there's no silly in-between-the-toe bit, anyone else hate the feeling of those?!
2) I think this Topshop swimsuit is so cute. I probably haven't worn a swimsuit for a good ten years! But the shape and colour of this one is too adorable to pass up on.
3) I think this would be so ideal for throwing on over a bikini before heading to the beach. I am absolutely loving white lately, it's so crisp and fresh!
4) I love these sunglasses. The shape is lovely and will make a welcome change from the aviators I've had glued to my head for the past 2 summers! I really struggle with sunglasses being too big thanks to my pea head, so hopefully when I try these on next shopping trip they'll fit nicely!
5) I know, jumping on the bandwagon with every blogger in the world who has a Triangl bikini! I just think the colours are so bright and lovely, and the fit looks absolutely perfect!
6+7) A good, bright nail polish is a must-have for a beach holiday! Barry M Sugar Apple hasn't left my nails for the past few weeks, and Models Own Beach Bag is the perfect holiday shade.
8) Another holiday essential, I need a huge beach bag to stuff full of suncream, sunglasses, towels and a lot of books! I love this one, it's the perfect size to fit everything in.
Where are you off to on holiday this year? What are your essentials? :)
Long time no blog! After I handed my dissertation in the excitement of having nothing to do got a bit overwhelming, so that's exactly what I've been doing for a while. Now I've had my results, started working a bit more and began applying for graduate jobs I'm ready to get back into real life, and back to blogging!
This outfit was from a few weeks back when it was slightly cooler, hence the leather jacket. I have lived in these trousers ever since spotting them in TK Maxx on my way to the home section. I've never really explored the clothing in TK Maxx before now, but these trousers are so comfortable they're quickly becoming my go-to outfit for lazy days!
At first I was slightly unsure about this kimono, I'm sure I would have instantly loved the dark colours in the colder months but now it's (apparantly) Summer I'm yearning for lighter colours in my clothes! So today I tried to brighten it up a bit with mint green nails and accessories, denim shorts and a crop top. I'm actually really pleased with how it looks as a casual day-to-day outfit, and I've fallen in love with the paisley print!
You might have noticed I've been trying to get a little bit more adventurous with the locations of my outfit posts. What do you think? How important do you think the setting is of outfit photos, if at all?
1 - I'm (evidently) loving white shoes lately. I'm not usually a fan of huge chunky wedges but this pair from New Look are amazing. I think they'd make any outfit and the platform heel means they won't cripple you which is always a bonus!
2 - New Look have some great shoes in recently. I love the powder blue colour and contrasting black heel of this pair.
3 - This pair of Topshop heels would be perfect for both day and night time. The heel makes them slightly more dressy whilst the cleated sole adds a more casual aspect.
4 - I've got to say, I haven't bought in to the 'ugly shoe' trend at all. However, these New Look sandals may just have convinced me. They're the right amount of pretty, girly and ugly to win me over!
5 - I love the baby pink snakeskin effect on the front of this pair. I think these shoes are so useful for day-to-day wear and look great as well!
6 - These flats from Matalan are the perfect mix between a casual and classy shoe. The lack of heel makes them perfect for a day walking around the shoes, but the point and pattern make them smart enough for night time wear!
Excuse the tired eyes! I'm clearly still catching up on sleep since finishing my dissertation.
I'm obsessed with bright colours lately, and even though the weathers awful again I'm trying to find ways to keep wearing colourful, spring-like outfits. I spotted this skirt in Primark the other day, and loved the pink colour. I only popped in for tights but I couldn't leave this behind, especially at only £6!
Gingham is everywhere just lately, and it's a trend I love! I think it's so fresh and spring like, and can be worn for almost any occasion. I'm especially loving the emergence of more pastel coloured ginghams, and can't wait to get my hands on some. I've collected a few images of bloggers wearing the gingham trend perfectly and created a collage of gingham pieces I love, similarly to previous 'How Bloggers Wear' posts here and here.
Excuse the miserable face in the first photo! I bought this outfit last week and I've been loving it ever since. I included these trousers in my Spring Wishlist post a few weeks ago, so when I spotted them in store I had to buy them. They're so versatile and can easily be dressed up or down. The only bad thing I would say is the fit is really strange on the knees, but that may be down to H&M' s weird sizing. I wore them with a vest top, also from H&M and black heels to go out for a meal a few nights ago.
Have you bought anything nice whilst shopping lately?
1 - I've never really taken much notice of Dorothy Perkins in the past, but I've visited a few times lately and have loved everything! I love the colour of this shirt, and the material feels lovely. This would be really versatile and perfect for Spring.
2 - I love these patterned trousers from H&M. I think they'd look nice casually with a t-shirt or more dressed up with a blouse or cami, and for £12.99 you can't go wrong!
3 - I'm loving lime/neon green lately. I think having a bag or accessories in this colour is a really easy way to brighten up an outfit, and this one from H&M is gorgeous.
4 & 5 - Barry M Gelly nail polishes are my favourite drugstore nail polishes. I've found they dry really quickly and don't chip too easily which is perfect for me. These new colours are so nice for Spring, I'll definitely be picking them up in the next few weeks!
6 - I saw these shoes in New Look last week and fell in love. The colour seems brighter in person, they would be absolutely perfect for Spring and Summer.
7 - Matalan have really surprised me lately, and have some lovely things in. This skirt caught my eye, I think I'd get a lot of wear out of it now the weathers a little bit warmer (hopefully I haven't just jinxed it!)
What have you had your eye on in the shops lately? :)
A few weeks ago I posted this 'How To Wear Pink - Wishlist' featuring some bloggers wearing outfits that had inspired me to create the wishlist. I really enjoyed writing it, so I started collecting images of bloggers wearing another trend I love - white blazers.
I think white blazers can look so classy and fresh. They're perfect for dressing up jeans and a t-shirt and look amazing with neon colours! I've made a collage of things I'd wear with a white blazer, inspired by the lovely outfits above!
I bought these shorts about a year ago but never really got around to wearing them. I spotted them in my wardrobe a few days ago and decided to try and get some use out of them. They're quite a thick, textured material, with a high waisted fit and fake pockets on the sides. They are so short though! I definitely wouldn't be brave enough to wear them without tights. I paired them with this fluffy knit grey jumper from New Look which has been so useful throughout the winter! I've honestly worn it with pretty much everything and the shape and quality are both lovely!
If you have a spare few moments I would be grateful forever if you could fill this survey out: http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/101893DTGDG
It would help me so much with my dissertation work! Thank you in advance if you fill it out, you don't know how helpful you're being! :)
I wasn't sure on this top when I first bought it, it reminds me of the uniform Clark's workers used to wear when I was little! It's growing on me though, I suppose it's quite versatile and I've worn it quite a few times since I've had it so that must be a good sign. I found this skirt in the back of my wardrobe after completely forgetting I owned it for months, I've been loving it ever since. It's really easy to just throw on without looking too casual.
I wore this last Sunday for a very lazy day doing not much at all, that's what Sundays are for!
What clothes have you been loving lately? Follow me onTwitterand Instagram:)
With the horrible weather we've been having, I've found myself wanting to wear summer-y coloured clothes more and more as an attempt to cheer myself up. I've been loving pink lately, and after seeing it incorporated in to all these lovely outfits, I love it even more!
I've put together a little wish-list of all the lovely pink clothes and accessories that are available on the High St at the moment. I definitely think this is a trend worth investing in, just look at how pretty it is! It will without a doubt stick around for a while yet.
I found this dress in Primark and thought the print was really cute and unusual! It was actually in the sale section for £3, bargain! It feels nice quality as well, which is definitely a plus for Primark. It's one of those dresses that are really easy to wear, a cardigan and boots and it's daytime appropriate, or remove the cardigan and swap the boots for heels and you can wear it for a night out.
I wore it today with a simple grey cardigan from H&M which I love because it's so light and versatile! I also wore gold accessories, a brown belt and black boots.
I've had a lovely weekend full of shopping, Italian food and drinks with friends. Today I recovered with a much needed lazy Sunday. How was your weekend?
Ring- Pandora, Necklace - Primark, Boots - New Look(similar)
I thought I'd attempt my first outfit post today and these were the only pictures that were use-able. I'm such an awkward poser.
Anyway, I really just wanted to show this jacket from Missguided, I love the print and just think it's really easy to throw on and make an outfit a bit more interesting. I just wore this for a day at uni, so it's nothing exciting, but I was comfortable without being too dressed down.
These boots from New Look were a bargain, I spotted them in the sale and paid £16.99 for them! I can't find them online but it might be worth having a look in store and seeing if you can pick any up.
I'll keep trying at the outfit posts(and maybe next time get a photo of the whole outfit)!
1+2 - I spotted these coats whilst shopping last night. They look really nice quality in person and the perfect coat for that awkward in-between season stage that's coming up!
3 - I've wanted these rollers for ages, I've had great experiences with Enrapture as a brand (I especially love their totum styler) and these are half price at Debenhams at the moment, so I've got an excuse to try them out!
4 - This bracelet is so dainty and cute. Following on from my wrist candy post I've been craving more bracelets to go with my watch, I love this one.
5 - I first spotted these shoes on Milk Bubble Tea's wishlist and have been thinking about them since! Again, I just think they're perfect for in-between seasons. They'd look cute with tights for the colder weather we're getting at the moment, and would be a great summer shoe as well.
6 - The photo on River Island's website doesn't do this tiny satchel justice. I found it last night and fell in love straight away!
7 - I love the perfume bottle, so it was inevitable I'd love the Marc Jacobs Daisy earrings too. So cute!
I love watches! And an array of pretty bracelets and bangles stacked together look perfect. I came across these photos on Pinterest a few days ago and love how the combinations look.
I put together a little 'lookbook' of bracelets, bangles and watches I've been lusting after.
I love Halloween! I always have, maybe it's something to do with my love for Autumn. The darker nights and the colder weather, the start of the party season and the excitement of being able to dress up all spooky. I'm about 5 years old at heart.
But, asides from the fancy dress, you can always sport a more toned down Halloween look. The Halloween ranges in stores have been really drawing me in lately, and I think you could sport some of this as day time wear (and as fancy dress!)
I know, I know, there's only a very short period of time you can actually wear any of this stuff. Pretty much just the month of October, actually. But look how cute it all is! I love the bat print Topshop skirt, and the Halloween themed nail wraps. Topshop never fails to please me with it's Halloween themed pieces, remember THAT JW Anderson for Topshop bat jumper?
I don't know, maybe it's just me who loves spooky-themed everything! After all, we all need to channel our inner excitable 5 year old every now and then!
One last thing! I've been loving this Yankee Candle Candy Corn Halloween candle. It smells lovely, really fitting with the season, and makes the room all cosy and warm. Asides from all of that, how could you resist the themed jar?
One of my favourite trends for Autumn this year is tartan. This tartan skirt from New Look portrays the trend in a perfectly wearable way. I've put together three different ways I'd wear this skirt throughout the Autumn and into the Winter, for a few different occasions.
Worn with a cosy pair of tights, this first look would be great for the colder autumn mornings. I love the detail on the jumper, it makes a nice difference from a regular knitted jumper and adds a more rough, grungy look to an otherwise plain jumper. The studded shoes and bag with silver hardware emphasise the grungy look even more.
Another grungy sort of look. The tartan and grungy trends go hand in hand and work so well together. The gold accessories add a luxe feel, as do the different textures in this look. I think this look is quite versatile, it would be great with tights and the flat boots in the day, add some heels and lose the tights and its an evening look!
The glitzy gold collar on the top in this look gives a more glamourous feel. I love the chunky boots, the contrast between the delicate girly top and big boots works well. I think this looks quite festive, and would look great at christmas meals when the time comes.
